Welcome to the official website of the national touring exhibition - "For Our Freedom and Yours."
For much of the nineteenth and early twentieth century Poland was divided and ruled by its three imperial neighbours: Prussia, Austria and Russia. The Poles’ fight against this occupation forced thousands into exile. Many then joined the armies of other nations who shared their struggle for freedom. The title of the exhibition is a motto from these years that found new meaning during the dark days of World War Two.
For Our Freedom and Yours - The story of the 1st Polish armoured division is a fascinating and moving exhibition which traces the story of the famous polish armoured division from their formation in Scotland in 1942 to their campaigns in Western Europe in 1944 - 1945 under the command of the esteemed General Stanislaw Maczek.
The exhibition features many rare and previously unseen artefacts and images which capture the story from the invasion of Poland in September 1939, to the end of the war in 1945. An unprecedented insight through a soldiers eyes into what it was like on the front lines from the begining of the war to the capitulation of Germany in May 1945.
For Our Freedom and Yours continues to receive praise and acclaim from both the media and public and brings the Polish struggles of War and Post War to life.
The exhibition contains magnificent artifacts, including uniforms and personal equipments to poignant artifacts of the Polish struggle for freedom. To complement the artifacts we have a beautiful selection of graphic and text panels. We also provide special events with the exhibition, which are educational and enhance the exhibition experience.
